We decided to start our family when I turned 30. With a master’s degree in nursing and a background that made me feel pretty health-savvy, I thought I was prepared for this next chapter.
But when it came time to track my cycle, determine if I was ovulating, and set myself up for a healthy pregnancy, I was completely lost. I did what most people do in this situation—I Googled everything. I signed up for every trying-to-conceive (TTC) forum I could find, hoping to gain some insight into what I was doing wrong.
12 months later, no luck. Every month, when I got my period, I would find myself on the bathroom floor, sobbing uncontrollably. The guilt was overwhelming. My body, which had always been so reliable in every other aspect of my health, couldn’t do the one thing I needed it to—create life. It felt like a failure I couldn’t escape.
I questioned everything—my diet, my stress levels, even my worthiness as a future mother. It was as though my body was betraying me in the most fundamental way. And each month, the sadness would return, heavier than before.
After two years of trying, I reverted to conventional fertility treatments and went through several rounds of intrauterine insemination (IUI). Still, nothing. My husband and I underwent an extensive diagnostic workup, which revealed structural defects that could only be overcome with in vitro fertilization (IVF). It was a tough decision, but we decided to pursue IVF—and were ultimately blessed with our boys.
Hopefully, my story resonates with you, and you’ll know with certainty that not only can I relate to what you’re going through, but that I will also 100% have your back.
I understand the emotional and physical toll this journey can take, and I’m here to help you navigate it with compassion and expertise.
